Call it a definite bucket list trip.

The idea of world circumnavigation has intrigued me for a long time, and with a milestone birthday under my belt, I decided the time was right in 2024 to pull the trigger.

​

So, I began the planning process in February, piecing together air travel that connected one place to another, then another, then another... headed west until I would wind up back at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport, where it all began.

 

With more than a dozen flights on many different airlines, it felt like I was flirting with disaster so I made sure I had contingency plans, and plenty of cash... in case things went sideways.

 

But surprisingly, things went nearly perfectly, with only a torrential rainstorm in Pereira, Colombia disrupting the schedule on the very first night.
